SILENT-2 Study

Title:                          Incidence of silent atrial fibrillation in patients with clinically silent brain ischemic lesions (SILENT2).
Short summary:

This multi-centre study aims to assess the cumulative incidence of Atrial Fibrillation (AF) diagnosis, a well-recognised cause for cryptogenic Acute Ischemic Stroke (AIS), at 24 months in patients with Silent Brain Infarction (SBI). The main hypothesis is that continuous rhythm monitoring will yield a similar incidence of AF diagnosis in patients with SBI as compared to patients with cryptogenic AIS.

Study design:             Prospective, multi-centre, investigator-initiated observational, cohort study.
